BIOGRAPHY
GAPANG: (TAGALOG) noun: crawl; act of crawling
GAPANG is the brainchild of band members Joy Legason, Jay Jumawan and Carlo Garcia, all of whom are veterans of the Philippine metal scene from as far back as 1994 and who are also active members of local protest metal band BARABBAS.
In 2017, the trio decided to try out new avenues of heavy music. In so doing, they gravitated towards sludge/doom as their new weapon of choice.
The band still writes about themes involving human and societal strife, third-world tyranny, and uplifted hate. The music is now more focused on heaviness, slow tempo, and grit. At the same time, it routinely incorporates experimentations in ambient/atmospheric sonicscapes as a backdrop to the band's signature sound.
They released an online EP album entitled MABAGAL, MABIGAT, MADUMI in early 2018.
Material produced from the EP has since evolved in new directions, the end result of which will be completed soon as the band is currently on the tail-end of production of their debut full-length album comprised of 10 songs due to be released this 2019.
The band is currently in talks with various foreign music labels for distribution of its album abroad and intends to release the same in CD, cassette and vinyl formats.
